Kid-Tauqua

Keep kids busy with engaging programs and activities. The Kid-Tauqua Tent has special musical programs, demonstrations, tie-dying, and make ‘n’ take crafts. All programs are free to attend. Visit the Splash Pad for interactive water play, bubble-making, and sidewalk art creations.

Once the kids are worn out, relax on a Trolley Tour of the Mountain Lake Park Historic District. Saturday offers free rides in a Model T, and free horse-drawn carriage rides are on Sunday.

  • Theatre Games

Dr. Jenifer Virts will introduce children to the theatre with interactive games. Dressing the part with help from the Our Town Theatre Costume Shop will add to the fun.

  • Puppet Making

Jo Ann Dadisman will be returning with a program your kids will love. Storytelling, music, and puppets open up a child’s imagination and allow them to be immersed in the moment.

  • Learn The Guitar

Acclaimed guitarist Mark Edwards will bring practice guitars to help curious children learn how to play his favorite instrument. This is a rare opportunity for children to discover musical interests.

  • Animal Songs Jamboree

Sally Stephenson brightens up the Kid-Tauqua tent with her interactive songs. Her warm, natural demeanor draws in the little ones. Listen, sing along, and play simple instruments with Dr. Sally while learning about the animals of our woodlands.

  • GaCo Robotics Demonstration

Chuck Trautwein heads up Garrett County’s Robotics team, GaCo, and has mentored students who have won multiple international awards of excellence in robotic engineering. See his amazing demonstration of technology on the Kid-Tauqua stage.

  • Treasure Hunt

David Moran will tap into your child’s imagination and exploratory skills. He will lead a treasure hunt with a surprise nugget for the winners who find it.

  • Youth Hat-Making Contest

Express yourself by making a creative hat. Find everything you need under the Kid-Tauqua Tent, or bring special things to add to your hat from home. The contest winner will help emcee Mikey Virts present the awards to the adult competitors at 6:00 under the Martin Tent.
